I spent the first 3 laps of qualifying warming up and trying to find some space to begin a flying lap...which I later regretted when I saw the spots of rain start to land on my windscreen!šThe drizzle turned into a full on thunderstorm (complete with lightening flashes) within seconds, meaning any chance of setting a faster lap time was well and truly over! I did enjoy having a wee play arou...nd in the rain though, in preparation for a wet race in the future.
I qualified 17th for race one but started 19th due to a penalty I picked up at the last meeting. This year's a big learning curve for me and I fully respect the clerks decision and apologise for my mistake. Race 1 was a pretty simple drive from lights to flag. Race 2 saw more action, narrowly avoiding an incident on turn 1 to jump up to 12th place. I then managed a decent safety car restart but unfortunately slowly dropped back and back until I was back to where I started again!
Ah well, all in all a decent weekend. Thanks to my team and mechanics at OREX and Junction1 Graphics the car looked stunning š This was due to their hard work to repair the damage we sustained at the previous meeting. Off the track I had a good laugh as always and it was nice to meet Liam who has written the news articles about me on Women In Motorsport! Stopping off at iZone on the way home on Monday topped off what has been a surreal weekend for me. The amazing feeling of being a driver rather than a spectator at these meetings still hasn't worn off and it was particularly apparent this weekend āŖ#āluckyme
